In 2002 my beloved grandmother, after a period of failing health, could no longer care for herself at home. This wonderfully vibrant woman, who in my eyes bordered on sainthood, wanted nothing more than to remain in the comfort of her home. Fearing for her safety, the family reluctantly moved her into a nursing home. While I looked forward to my weekly visits with her, I always left with a heavy heart because she would plead with me to take her home.
I established Happier in my Home to provide skilled in-home senior care to those who wish to keep their independence and remain in the familiar surroundings of home with help from trusted caregivers. Along with skilled care, we offer the peace of mind that comes from knowing you have a safety net - kind and compassionate people you can depend on and trust.
Happier in my Home is dedicated to the memory of my dear grandmother, Gertrude Thompson, the woman who taught me the true meaning of unconditional love and the way to make a difference.
Our Story
Susan Baker, RN, Clinical Director
Susan brings 30 years experience as a Geriatric, Psychiatric and Orthopedic nursing professional. A valuable asset to our team, her expertise serves our seniors and their families well. Susan will meet with each family and help assess and develop a personalized care plan specifically designed to meet the individual needs of each senior. She also oversees all of our highly-trained and certified CNA's and HHA's. Appointments with Susan are scheduled for the convenience of our seniors and families.
